word for the day, 08 26 2015, Proverbs 10:9, Sins will come to light

(Today’s WORD respectfully submitted by Mike Clarke-we welcome Mike as our newest contributor)

It is Wednesday August 26th. TGFT.
Listen to the word of God to us today
Proverbs 10:9 “Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but whoever takes crooked paths will be found out.”(NIV).

The word speaks to us about walking the right path in life, the path ordained by God. Whenever we sin we sow the seeds of evil in the ground and even though it is hidden from plain sight, these seeds will begin to grow into plants and trees and bear the fruits of our deceitful actions. When I was a young boy my father grounded me for something i thought was unfair, so I took his prized possession, the TV guide (it was a listing of TV shows and showtimes in the pre-internet age for my Millenials), and ripped it up. I placed the torn remnants of the guide in my bedroom closet so he wouldn’t find out. I then watched in glee as my father searched high and low for it for about 4 days. A few days later, my mom decided to clean my bedroom closet! When she found the mangled TV guide what followed next was a reckoning of biblical proportions. I learned a valuable lesson on that day, God will surely will bring to light what is hidden in darkness. And in this day and age we are seeing his words come to pass. From major political scandals, to economic mismanagement, to racial revelations, and to Ashley Madison.com (stay away from there fellow Christians) we see God shining a light on the trees that bear ill fruit. So rejoice in walking the path of the righteous and take comfort knowing that you will not have to worry about about being exposed, for the children of God have nothing to hide. Hallelujah

Prayer for the day: Father, lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Give us serenity we need as we walk in that path that you have set for us. This we pray in Jesus name, Amen.
